Languages I speak/am learning/wish to learn

  • I can read/understand a bit of Spanish, French and Greek (modern). I would love to improve those languages first before I learn the rest! I also view music as a language, of which I am fluent. I am also a strong non-verbal communicator (language without words!).

Amazing places you have travelled

  • Well, since you asked . . . don't worry, I will spare you the slide show presentation! I am originally from Texas (though I now live in Ireland). And while Texas was nice, I have been lots of other places . . . so far: >Mexico - Nueva Laredo, Matamoris >Colorado - Denver, Rocky Mountains (wow) >Memphis, Tennessee (Graceland, Civil Rights Museum) >Niagra Falls (Canadian side) >Canada - Toronto (duh, had to go there for Niagra Falls!) >New Orleans >Chicago >All over Ireland - every county and amazing places and people, too many to list here, although I have been to the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Newgrange, Giants Causeway, Ring of Kerry, West Cork and Ballyhooly, Co. Cork (home - heh, its a beautiful place!) >England / Wales - London, Stonehenge, Glastonbury >Greece - Crete (what an increadibly amazing place - we go EVERY year), Athens (the Acropolis, Mount Olympus), San Torini >France - Paris (everywhere), Mont San Michel, Brittany, Normandy, yes, yes, even Disneyland Paris (only 3 times!) >Spain - Barcelona, Malaga, Granada (the Alhambra!!), Gibralter, La Mancha (and the windmills), Madrid airport, the Canary Islands (Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Tenerife) >North Africa - Tunisia >Egypt - Cairo and the Pyramids and Sphinx!!!!!! >Cypress >Italy - Rome (and all the stuff there), Vatican museum, Pisa, Lake Garda, Venice >Switzerland - and ate some Toblerones. Really. >Germany - Frankfurt and Marburg >Hungary - Budapest >Finland - ate elk stew and had a sauna. I'm not making this stuff up. >China - Beijing (Great Wall, Forbidden City, Tienamen Square, Tinjin. That's about it. Other than that, I stay home pretty much and have an early night in . . . occassionally.

Interests & Passions

  • Interests & Passions?? How much space do I have here? I am a Human Potentialist. I believe that we all have such incredible potential, if we'd just get out of our own ways. That's part of the reason I was drawn to mentoring/coaching - helping people (and more immediately, myself) to stop stopping themselves and be the naturally and powerfully creative, resourceful and whole beings that we are. Yep, passionate about that one. What else? Nature (especially mountains and the sea), beauty in all things, art of all kinds, astronomy, natural world, science(s), psychology (particularly Positive Psychology and Transactional Analysis), helping people creative livelihoods, anthropology, sociology, clever things & ideas, spirituality, spiritual arts, history, mystery (as in the mysteries of life, etc, although a good mystery story is brilliant), martial arts, energetic arts, healing arts, etc, etc. That's enough for now. Let's just say that my inner natural child loves exploring and learning new things and fitting things together in new ways to create more new stuff . . . and the cycle continues!

Best places to meet new people?

  • The courses I give or attend. Travelling anywhere. My work. Online communities such as this, LinkIn, etc. Business / social networking organisations, professional organisations. The corner shop.

Types of people I like to hang with

About me

  • Hi! I'm originally from Texas, but have lived in County Cork, Ireland now for the past 14 years with my wife, 3 children, 2 dogs, 1 cat and a turtle named Fred. My first life was as a professional classical guitarist and then I moved into training/management roles in the voluntary sector. For the past 7 years I have been self employed, providing mentoring, coaching and training for those in career transition or those becoming self employed.

My occupation

  • What do I do to pay the bills? I am an inspirational mentor and transformational trainer and coach and it pays the bills pretty well, thank you. I help people understand themselves so that they can push their own buttons (the good ones) and stop pressing the not-so-useful buttons. I help people create livelihoods for themselves that they really enjoy and are fulfilled through - whether that means: changing jobs (yes, even in this economy stuff); making a better go of the job they have (stop hitting their head against the wall); escape from corporate life; start the business that they always wanted to, but didn't know how (over 500 happy clients so far!); make their business work better; have greater self confidence; and lots of other really cool stuff that I haven't had time to start yet - but I will!

People describe me as

  • Caring, easy to talk to, deep, funny, artistic, confident, strong but quiet, calm, smart, clever, expert, insightful, approachable, nice, respectful, positive, creative, spiritual, wonderful (their word, not mine!)

People I like to hang out with are

  • Positive people, creative people, people that see potential and possibility, that say 'how can we do this', who never say never, masterful, full of joy and peace, spiritual, fun.

My purpose in life

  • The purpose of my life is to be the best me that I can be, to focus on creativity, potential, artistry and joy. By being fully who I am, I invite others to empower themselves through example, for them to improve their lives, grow, learn, develop and have greater ease and joy in their lives. (As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same - Marianne Williamson). I look at this as Positive Entrainment. This in turn continues a ripple effect which has a knock on positive benefit for countless others, eventually helping to shift the mindset and energy of everyone. This is the Butterfly Principle. My job is simply to flap my wings . . .

What makes me proud to be me?

  • Wow, what a great coaching question. I think I will borrow that one. . . What makes me proud to be me is not all the amazing stuff that I have done (good and terrible) - but the fact that after aaaaaall these years, I finally get on with myself and I really like who I'm stuck with (that would be - me). Through my life I have had the blessing of pursuing self development and I really have sorted out so much of my own stuff. I have also had the incredible blessing of meeting my soul mate early on in life and having a wonderful family that give me joy and support me when I'm being too hard on myself. They also are patient with me when I'm too hard on them.
